Pictoral Investigations

After a few weeks of hard week and a culmination of many materials and processes I have produced a sketch book full of pictorial investigations into my 3D piece.

For me it was very enjoyable as well as challenging to compile this collection as I got to work with so many mediums including oil pastel, paint and print.

2D

So I haven't really blogged in a while because i've been working on various aspects of my project that have not reached their conclusion yet. However i have created this work

:

Basically these squares are a flattened 2D form of the boxes i have created and what I hope to do is sketch/paint/print what i see behind every cutout object and see how they differ.

Animations

So /following a recent seminar I instantly began to formulate ideas for an animation(s) to do with my main piece. I guess you could call it an abstract reaction to the piece as these short sequences display several of the objects within a new environment that is the 2D screen.

This piece is very simple both in look and creation technique and the contrast of the black and white aids the emphasis of the objects against the negative black space.

This is my favourite animation as it appears more complex and stylish than the others with the addition of music and more colour and techniques

This one is shorter than the others but i like the simplicity of the black against a light gradient and how the shapes blend into each other

3D moulds

to expand my project further I have decided to mold the 3D forms I have decided on and reproduce them using several different mediums (wax, plastic, plaster etc..).

to do this i have made each object out of clay as the paper models consisted of too many gaps for the mould to seep through. here is what they look like within the boxes, for me they are too dark and react alot differently to the space than the white models in a negative way.

Hopefully the moulds and some initial forms should be made by the end of the week.
