Finished video

After two weeks and alot of work I have produced this 45 ( or so ) second animation. Overall I am happy with the outcome and it pretty much did everything I wanted it to along the way. Having already basics skills in the programmes I used definitely helped me do what I wanted And I can say that if I were to do it again I would change virtually nothing.
here it is....enjoy.

more contexual

I also stumbled across this piece...I like the fusion between the 2-D pixels and the 3-D world.

Animation contexual work

After going through youtube trying to find a little inspiration as to how I would actually make my animation I stumbled upon these few artists. I like how each one is different from another be it the style its created with or the pace of the clip. I can also see how music makes a big difference to what you are making and it will be of significant importance to my project.

Super Brothers - Children of the clone

Move your feet - Shynola

Maxell commercial (8-bit)

Tron Legacy 8-Bit

Chips and Peas - mrweebl

Gears Of War 8-Bit

Animation!

So after a week off for rag week (well deserved) I have landed back in college to the two week module of animation. To be honest when coming here I had no idea about the animation module and it was of not real interest to me because i had a nieve view of it as claymation and stop motion for four years. However I could not be more wrong and infact animation is one of my prefered choices now. I guess the reason why it has all changed is the vast expanse of the course itself where you are encouraged to practice every area of motion design ( every other aspect of the course ) particularly for me, the digital media side. This part of the module is something that i have encountered before and I am quite up to date with using various programmes such as After Effects and Cinema 4D and I always wanted to pursue a career where your hard work will gain you recognition especially if its being broadcast on the television.

Now, to the two week block...
So the brief was 'stop motion' and I was quite keen to get started and try something completely new and what I thought would be enjoyable. However, apart from the traditional move, picture, move, picture style, stop motion now covers pretty much every base of animation and motion design and my project is going to be made almost solely on the computer in After Effects.

The idea...
From a list of sentences given to use I chose to explore the line 'I opened the door and...'. To do this I will create an animation where I am put in a game of Super Mario travelling through various parts of the game until, with just one life left and just about to be lost, I am saved by someone pressing the ESC key on my keyboard, thus, saving me.

here are some screenshots of my progress so far:

Vis Com pt.2

So  for the second week we were asked to design a piece of typography of our chosen word. I found this to be a little easier than the first week as I had already put in the ground work with my mind map and thumbnail sketches.
So basically this week consisted of me brainstorming and coming up with different ideas as well as experimenting with lots of different fonts, colours etc...
here is some of my work from it...

Elective 2: vis com

So, unfortunately print is over and done with and I have begun my second elective visual communication. To me visual communications is intruiging and I have a lot of respect for all graphic designers as they pretty much help the world to work.
So, what was the brief?
well for the first week we were given the challenge of creating and illustration be it computer generated, sculpted or collaged based upon a random word we chose ourselves...for me it was 'calculate' .

now not much springs to mind when given this word but through the process of mind mapping I was able to draw out much more information than I thought possible.
From this we were then asked to illustrate every idea we had plotted using thumbnail sketches which I quite enjoyed.
next was concept development where we had to decide what our final illustration would look like.To me this was a tricky part of the project but using the scamper method I was able to conjure up several ideas and one final one which I will finish in the coming week.

Here are some samples from my weeks work

More drypoints

Tuesday in the second week of print has probably been my favourite day in the studios. This could be down to the fact that I was itching to get back in after a weekend out or the fact that I was able to experiment and have alot of fun whilst producing some nice prints.
So basically the aim for the day was to try and improve on the idea of deconstructing an image to make it barely recognisable. I tried to achieve this using masking tape to block out some parts of the acetate and inking up whats left. On the whole I believed I produced a good array of imagery.

To be honest I can't (be bothered to) explain the intricacies so i'll let the images talk:
